URBS ET ORBIS. ROMA E LE ALTRE: CITTA’ ALLO SPECCHIO

IPER, Festival delle periferie 2025
Rome, 2-28 May 2025

IPER, the Festival of the Peripheries, returns to reflect on Rome and its transformations. Rome and the Others: Cities in the Mirror is the theme through which Giorgio de Finis brings together the perspectives of “observers” from around the world, offering fresh viewpoints on the complexity of the contemporary city. Architecture, urban planning, multiple artistic languages, cultures from other countries, and a multitude of international voices will intertwine within the city’s fabric, from the historic centre to the outskirts.

Within this framework, the conference University and City. Sapienza projects and research for Rome took place at the Teatro Ateneo in Sapienza University’s campus. “University and City” is a two-day event—an integral part of the Festival of the Peripheries Urbs et Orbis. Rome and the Others: Cities in the Mirror—hosted at the Teatro Ateneo. Curated and organised by the Faculty of Architecture, the event features talks, video screenings, meetings and lectures centred on the intense dialogue between Rome and the University, offering a valuable opportunity to share projects, studies and research aimed at improving and rethinking the city’s future. Through the involvement of faculty, students, institutions and professionals, “University and City” highlights the University’s crucial role in Rome’s cultural, social and economic development, promoting innovative visions and opening new opportunities for collaboration.

The Festival of the Peripheries is a project organised and produced by the Museo delle periferie – Azienda Speciale Palaexpo, under the patronage of the Department of Culture of Roma Capitale.
